MaidPro Great Neck is officially open for business. Owner and operator, Quang Tran, speaks to The Island Now about his brand new franchise. Check out his interview below!

Quang Tran has fused together his management skills with the “clean freak” mentality bestowed upon him by his mother to open his first business: a subsidiary of MaidPro.

“I always wanted to own my own business,” Tran, a former vice president for a finance company, said in an interview.

There are over 100 MaidPro locations across the country, with one in Brooklyn and two in Manhattan, but Tran’s location at 34 South Station Plaza in Great Neck Plaza, is the first on Long Island—and he may very well open satellite locations in the future.

“Great Neck is where we want to base it,” said Tran, 35.

MaidPro describes itself as a professional cleaning service, following their “49-Point Checklist” to carefully clean the entire home. Services range from vacuuming and fridge cleaning to folding the corners of bed sheets just right.

Tran said that, because of its professional and older residents, MaidPro could provide a well-needed service. After a long day at work, residents could be greeted by a glistening home rather than need to clean it themselves.

“I don’t think people give appreciation for what kind of effort it takes,” Tran said.

At the moment, though, Tran said he is starting small. Right now the location primarily serves Great Neck, Manhasset and Little Neck, but intends to ultimately service areas like Roslyn, New Hyde Park, Albertson, Whitestone and Bayside.

Tran also said the business will begin with three to four employees and hopes to have 10 within a year. While they would accept cleaning veterans, Tran noted that the most important factor is reliability—after all, everyone hired gets a week of practical, observational and video training.

“We want the people with the right attitude,” Tran said.

Mayor Jean Celender, who was present at the business’s opening, described the business as a “refreshing, bright idea.”

She said that MaidPro joins a list of 25 new businesses that opened within the last year, but that it was the “first one in this part of the village” and helps with the goal of building a mixed downtown.

“Having a cleaning service is helpful,” Celender said.
