Franchise Business Review Features MaidPro Franchisee Couple from Alabama

March 06, 2019

When Bill and Marilyn Collier first became MaidPro franchisees in 2009, they were in their late 50s and used funds they had set aside for retirement. That leap of faith has really paid off for the couple.

“We invested in ourselves and because of that, we are debt free. We love this and now have the financial stability to create a lifestyle we love,” Marilyn was quoted by Franchise Business Review where the couple’s business is a “Featured Franchise.”

The Colliers, who run their MaidPro franchise in Pelham, Ala., are featured on the FBR website, as well as in the January 2019 print edition of the FBR magazine. FBR is an independent market research firm that rates franchises based on franchisee satisfaction.

In addition to confirming that they work well together professionally, the Colliers learned one surprising thing about themselves in the 10 years that they’ve run their MaidPro franchise. They each ended up liking unexpected aspects of the business. Before purchasing their MaidPro franchise, Marilyn’s background was in financing, while Bill was more used to interacting with people. But ironically, she “ended up loving the people end of the business and Bill ended up doing a lot of the behind the scenes work!”

The Colliers’ business is a true family affair, with their daughter, Tracie Blair, now helping them to manage it. The couple’s advice to others interested in franchising “is to really lean on the knowledge and advice of the home office.” And they also say they wish they had opened their own business sooner rather than waiting until they were in their 50s.
